But the 2014 Corvette Stingray is different. Some traditional Corvette aficionados will not like the new external styling cues, but Chevy is seeking to expand the Corvette demographic. For those who would never consider a Corvette, the structural changes, power delivery, and interior experience make a compelling case for a closer look.

As the first of the C7 Corvettes, this is the first year of radical departure from rounded taillights. Makes you look twice, doesn't it? The interior is also improved, with seats that offer real support and comfort, and a high-tech cockpit that mixes a multi-adjustable Head-Up Display with LCD gauges. The frame is an entirely new design of aluminum and the same for coupes and convertibles. Five drive modes, each with twelve customizable performance parameters will make you think you should get paid to drive.

The 2014 Stingray comes with two transmissions, a seven speed manual that most reviewers found confusing in the top gears--many shifts from fourth to seventh then third instead of fifth. This Corvette, however, comes with a perfectly capable six speed automatic transmission and paddles for manual shifting, if you insist.
