Professionally Restored Model A Roadster in Rare Color Combination
During the early 20th century, Ford concentrated on building automobiles for the masses and quickly became the dominate player in the American automobile market. By the mid-1920s, however, other carmakers were quickly catching up. The iconic Model T was showing its age, and Henry Ford reluctantly admitted a replacement was needed. Enter the beloved and innovative Model A Ford.
Although a mechanical genius and savvy businessman, Henry Ford lacked the design eye of classic coachbuilders. Recognizing this challenge, Ford wisely left the principle design of the Model A up to his son, Edsel, and his younger contemporaries. The result was obviously a homerun for Ford Motor Company. The new Model A was soon referred to as the “Baby Lincoln” and provided an opportunity for the “average Joe” to afford a beautiful, modern car.
The Model A was the first Ford to use what would become the standard set of driver controls: conventional clutch and brake pedals, throttle, and gearshift. The fuel tank was located in the cowl between the engine compartment's firewall and the dash panel. A unique visual fuel gauge monitored the gravitational flow of fuel to the carburetor. It was also the first car to have safety glass in the windshield. At a base price of only $385, the 201ci water-cooled four cylinder Model A sold close to five million units during its four year production run (1928-1931).
Art & Speed is extremely proud to offer this professionally restored 1929 Model A Roadster with rumble seat. Painstakingly finished in a striking combination of Rose Beige body with Classic Black fenders, Copra Drab (Brown) trim and Orange pinstriping, this Model A is stunning in every way. Every collector needs a classic Ford in their garage, and the popularity of “street rodding” and customization of the ever-popular Model A has depleted the inventory of truly original, working examples.
